College is on my mind tonight, it is such an extremely difficult time in almost everyone's lives. The transition between high school and college has left me in an extremely down state of mind. First off college has become extremely necessary in our society it is so rare to see a CEO or successful business owner without a degree. In our world today college is not an option it is a 100 percent necessity. That is a problem for many because college is so expensive. Its either be blessed with money from your parents, enlist, or take out student loans. I mean the stress that this puts on teenagers including myself is almost unbearable. Either find a way to pay or flip burgers thats what we are looking at in today's society.

Another part of the process that causes stress is completely moving on from your friends and the life you have in your hometown. I mean once I pick my college and figure out how to pay my battle is going to be halfway over. I love Magnolia, and my family and friends, leaving is going to be the hardest thing I have ever had to do. Not seeing my family everyday or hanging out with my group every weekend, the thought alone nearly brings me to tears. The entire college process is just so difficult, these are supposed to be the best years of my life and I am full of stress over the entire thing. College is probably going to be great, but from where I am standing college sucks.

This week the new, much anticipated, Call of Duty videogame came out and millions of people bought it. In the first week of the game being out there has been thousands of years of combined playtime. This got me thinking what would the world be like if instead of spending all this time on a videogame these millions of people, including myself, used that time on something productive like community service. If that playtime of thousands of years was put to use at foodbanks and homeless shelters how much better would our world be. That would be millions of people contributing to the greater good rather than sitting in front of a tv all day. The world would be a completely different, completely better place.

Not only is time being spent on the game, money is too. The millions of people that bought this game paid over fifty dollars for their disk. Think about the money that could go to feeding the hungry if all of that money was put to good use. All of this time and money is being wasted on a videogame. Nothing can be done about it, not many people playing right now would rather be volunteering for their community, but it is simply something to think about. How different would the world be if that wasted time could be converted into good?

Cam Newton is an electric player when it comes to college football, he is the leading candidate for the Heisman trophy and he has lead Auburn throughout their current undefeated season. A story came out this week talking about how he was involved with a former Mississippi State player who was trying to get Newton to sign with his former school. As the report said he represented the Newton family and he wanted almost 200,000 dollars from the the university to send Cam Newton there to play. Now I have no idea if these allegations are true or false, but I do know one thing for sure there is absolutely no room for this in college football. College football is a game of passion and tradition because the players do not recieve any money for their play, they play simply out of love for their game. This same idea keeps popping up in the news almost every year, players getting paid to sign with different colleges. All I know is that it ruins the game of college football that so many people includiong myself know and love.  
The NFL is a money based league, football on the college level at this point is not. That is why you see college players fighting for their school and pro football players holding out or skipping practice. On the college level it is strictly football, not money and politics. If players in college recieve money for their play it will simply taint the game and turn college football into a game full of big egos and salaries. If these allegations are true about Cam Newton then what will happen? Reggie Bush got his Heisman taken away for recieving money this year and I hope the same tough jurisdiction for every player who gets paid to play in college. I know that it happens all of the time and there is really little anyone can do to stop this from happening, but I really wish that instead of numbers of wins or national championships, coaches got paid for integrity. Integrity is what the game needs, paying players is no different from a baseball player taking HGH. It needs to be stopped before it ruins the game that I love.
